Julie Gorman, a registered dietitian with United family of supermarkets, discussed the chain's upcoming health fair on Lubbock's First News Wednesday morning.

On January 10-11, the Build a Better Basket Expo will be held at  at the Market Street locations (98th and Quaker, 19th and Quaker and 50th and Indiana) and the Amigos location at 1st and University from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Amigos location will also feature health screenings.

Gorman said the reason for the expo is to help consumers keep their New Year's resolutions to eat more healthfully.

"We want to help people get more healthy food choices in their baskets," explained Gorman.

There will be many samples of healthy snack products she said, adding there is no need to sacrifice taste for healthfulness. People should "make their snacks count" nutritionally, Gorman said.
