A Lubbock man has been sentenced for receiving child pornography.

Joshua Matthew Miranda was sentenced Friday morning to 20 years in federal prison, following a September 2013 guilty plea to one count of receiving child pornography.

The 29-year-old Miranda was arrested in the parking lot of a Lubbock church in early May 2013, after arranging to meet an undercover law enforcement officer who had posed as a 15-year-old girl.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, at the time of his arrest, Miranda had a box in his vehicle that contained numerous sex toys, ropes, gags, a blind fold, duct tape, and condoms.

Following his arrest, officers found several images and video of child pornography on Miranda’s computer, and he admitted to downloading the items.

A federal grand jury charged Miranda with attempted enticement of a child, production of child pornography, and receipt and possession of child pornography. Miranda pleaded guilty to the receipt count and received the maximum sentence for that offense.

The investigation was conducted by the Lubbock Police Department and the FBI.
