Josh Abbott Band Says ‘We Did Not Make a Political Statement’ After Las Vegas Shooting

Keeter was an eyewitness for the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday, Oct. 2. In reaction to the shooting, Keeter spoke out for gun control and made national headlines with this change of heart.
“We need gun control RIGHT. NOW,” Keeter said in a statement on Twitter Monday morning.
The guitarist said he was a major supporter of Second Amendment rights “until the events of last night.”
More than 50 people were killed in the shooting and 500+ were injured. The Josh Abbott Band was in Las Vegas during the shooting and were evacuated from their hotel. All the band and crew members, as well as Josh Abbott’s fiancee, were unharmed.
