On this week's edition of the Did You Know Show, Jon David Bruegal, candidate for Lubbock County Commissioner Precinct 2, talked with Ysidro Gutierrez about his campaign for commissioner.

Earlier this month, Bruegal and his opponent, incumbent County Commissioner Mark Heinrich, participated in a debate hosted by the A-J. During the debate, Heinrich discussed some of his major accomplishments, including balancing the budget as well as cutting the tax rate. Bruegal explained that while Heinrich did cut the tax rate once, he also raised it four times, resulting in a 14% increase in property tax rates.

Bruegal stressed the importance of transparency in the county commissioner's office. He said that, if elected, he would like to hold town hall style meeting in the commissioner's court, as well as having nighttime meetings to make it easier for people to attend, as the Lubbock City Council does now. Bruegal also shared his thoughts on combining the city and county jail and discussed some of the endorsements he received.

Early voting for local elections begins Tuesday, February 18th.
