Friday on The Chad Hasty Show, Jodey Arrington, GOP candidate and likely the next U.S. Representative of District 19, joined Hasty in the KFYO studio to talk about issues of concern for the South Plains and the nation.

Arrington and Hasty discussed a number of topics, including Senator Ted Cruz's recent visit to West Texas, the 'farm bill,' agriculture and trade organizations, terrorism and border security.

While talking about Senator Cruz's tour of the area and the Senator's shallow background in agriculture, Arrington said (referring to leaders and organizations representing agriculture in the region): "I would encourage them that, hey, he's reaching out to us, and he wants to learn more."

Arrington also talked about his recent tour of Texas border area and spoke of the extensive drug trade and the lack of security and law enforcement on the border.

"There is no effective border security," he said. "And the Border Patrol agents, there are not nearly enough of them. There's no way. We went around for hours and didn't see Border Patrol or even local security, local law enforcement in some of the worst neighborhoods probably in America."
