On the Tuesday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Lubbock City Councilman Jim Gerlt joined the the show in the KFYO studio to talk about his bid for reelection, and addressed several issues facing the city.

In addition to the reasons Gerlt believes he should be selected by voters for another term on the council, Gerlt and Hasty discussed the city's purchase for renovation of the Omni Building, now called Citizen's Tower, as well as private property rights of business owners, especially in regard to the previously proposed city-wide smoking ban in businesses.

While discussing the deal that the city negotiated in the purchase of Citizen's Tower, Gerlt said,

We didn't pay two and a half times what the building is worth, we paid a third, less than a third of the appraised value.
