Jennifer Simek with Lubbock Memorial Arboretum discussed the Second Saturday event scheduled for Jan. 10 with Lubbock's First News' Tom Collins and Laura Mac.

Jonathan Montsinger with the Texas Forestry Service will be making a presentation of planting trees as wind breaks, Simek said, adding that many of the species of trees Montsinger will discuss are planted at the arboretum.

Individuals can inspect the trees they like and find the name of the tree on a metal plate on the tree. There are also activities for children during Montsinger's presentation.

There is no charge for Second Saturday events, but space is limited. To reserve a spot, call the arboretum at (806) 797-4520. Second Saturday activities begin at 10 a.m.
