I think it's fair to say that the Texas Tech Red Raiders are in the conversation for the best spring sports athletic departments in the entirety of the NCAA.

The biggest sports in the spring, Men's Basketball and Baseball, are in good position to make the 2018 postseason. The Track and Field program has a history of greatness. Tennis in Lubbock has been very good.

The 'Texas Tech is the best Spring Sports School' narrative is backed by this tweet from the Texas Tech Athletic Department stating that four Texas Tech programs are in the top 10 nationally this week.

Men’s Basketball, Women’s Tennis and the Indoor Men’s Track and Field squad are tested and proven, and the baseball team has a resume-boosting consensus pre-season top 5 ranking.

However, this doesn't even scratch the surface of the spring success in Lubbock, Texas. Men’s Golf is ranked 13th, Men’s Tennis is 25th, and both the Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field teams finished in the top 25 last season.

It's still early in the Chris Beard era, but the Texas Tech Red Raiders are a bona fide top 10 basketball team after spending four of the last five weeks in the top 10 and have a wealth of young talent. The future is bright for the most nationally-recognized spring sport.

Tim Tadlock and the baseball program have put together a top-tier program over the last five years. There are trophies in the case from back to back Big 12 Championships. They’ve been in Omaha twice and were a national seed last season. With a myriad of sophomores ready to expound on solid freshman years and a junior heavy rotation featuring ace Steven Gingery, there's no reason the expectation can’t be 'Omaha or Bust' for the baseball team this season.

Add in the fact that the Sports Performance Center is one of the top Track and Field facilities in the nation and there are plans in the works to build a state-of-the-art basketball practice facility, and there's no reason the success can't be sustained.

Springtime is beautiful. Especially in Lubbock, Texas for the Red Raider Athletic Department.
