Wednesday on Lubbock's First News, Alejandro Hernandez talked with Tom and Laura about the upcoming theatrical production of Into the Woods, opening at Children and Adults Theatrical Studio (C.A.T.S.) Playhouse this month.

Into the Woods is based on a book by James Lapine about a group of people that travel to the woods in search of happiness, where they instead find spooky and fantastical challenges. Hernandez described the play: "It's a musical about fairytale characters who go on a journey and discover things about themselves they didn't know before." Hernandez said the first half of the play is a comedy, but becomes more serious as the story plays out. Music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim and the production is directed by Cornelius Brown.

The play will open on October 11th and will run on the 12th, 18th-19th, and 25th-26th. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors or students. The theater is located at 2257 34th. Call 806-792-0501 or go to C.A.T.S. Playhouse website to make reservations.
