Lieutenant Governor of Texas Dan Patrick joined guest host Chad Hasty during Pratt on Texas Thursday to talk about several issues in the news, the first being the Supreme Court's ruling on the Texas abortion law HB2, which the court found to be unconstitutional.

Patrick listed the four elements of the Texas law and described what portions of the Texas law the Supreme Court found unacceptable and what it found unacceptable.

While talking about the portion of the law which specifies cleanliness and sterility of clinics performing the procedures, which was struck down by the Supreme Court, Patrick said: "It's insanity to me."

"Look, we always want to save lives and cut down on abortion. But we were looking out for women's safety and women's health." Patrick then described what the law required in the way of physicians and clinics being able to handle emergency situations in conjunction with the procedure being performed, in case the procedure does not proceed as planned.

"If that's not radical, if that's not ideology on the left, on the court, I don't know what is," he said.

Hasty asked Patrick about his views on the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, and whether or not Patrick sees the rumored "Dump Trump" movements as having any legitimacy.

Patrick responded: "No. This is just people whipping things up. Look, the people who go to the [Republican] convention, for the most part, are good grass-roots, activist voters. They are not going to turn back the will of thirteen million Americans who voted for Trump."

"Again, there's no one who wanted Ted [Cruz] to win more than me, I think he would have been a great president. But Trump is our guy," Patrick said.

Hasty also asked Patrick about his thoughts on the Castro brothers who have attacked Patrick over the issue of school vouchers. According to the Castro brothers, this sort of voucher program would decimate rural schools if implemented. Patrick disagreed.

"This whole nonsense of decimating rural Texas schools is ridiculous," Patrick said, adding: "Castro brothers [are] stirring up trouble."
