Interstate 27 Traffic to be Shifted Onto Marsha Sharp Freeway, Some Freeway Lanes to Close Downtown

North and southbound I-27 traffic will be shifted onto the southbound lanes of the Marsha Sharp Freeway early next week.

Traffic will be switched onto the newly constructed southbound bridge, allowing for demolition of the existing northbound I-27 bridge and construction of the new structure. I-27 traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction during the switch.

The traffic switch is expected to last from Monday until Wednesday.

A section of the Marsha Sharp Freeway will close Monday for drainage structure work at the beginning of next week as well.

The section of the eastbound freeway from Avenue L and Buddy Holly Avenue will close for at least two days, with the roadway slated to possibly reopen on Tuesday evening.

Traffic will be detoured around the work area via northbound Spur 326, north Avenue Q and Erskine Avenue.
