TxDOT will begin making improvements to two intersections along 19th Street.

Beginning Wednesday, May 16th, crews will begin the project to make more than $2.4 million in improvements to 19th Street intersections at University and Indiana Avenues.

Crews will set barricades Wednesday morning and begin removing the median barrier at the University Avenue Intersection.

Traffic speed will be reduced to 35 miles per hour through the construction zone, and motorists can expect various single and double lane closures during construction along 19th Street, and along University and Indiana Avenues approaching the 19th Street intersections.

“The project will rebuild the intersections with an asphalt base and a concrete road surface,” said Lubbock Area Engineer Will Barnett. “These improvements will extend the life of the roadway and require less maintenance.”

Work at the Indiana Avenue intersection at 19th Street will begin around May 29th, and the entire project is expected to take four months to complete.
