On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Crystal Green Sumner talked with Tom Collins and guest host Sondra Ziegler about her upcoming protest against Lubbock Power and Light.

The recent massive increase in electric rates has caused the "I Hate LP&L" Facebook page to skyrocker in popularity, garnering thousands of likes in under 24 hours. Now, a protest of LP&L is being organized through the page, scheduled for next week. Sumner, the organizer of the protest, said that, as of today, over 700 people are scheduled to attend.  She also said that she chose to start the protest at LP&L because of the many people who wanted to show their faces there as opposed to starting at City Hall, but added that the protest may trickle down to City Hall as well.

The protest will take place Monday morning form 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM at Lubbock Power and Light offices, located at 1301 Broadway. Sumner stressed that this is intended to be a peaceful protest, and that protesters will not engage in any riotous activities like stopping traffic or harming others. For more information on the protest, visit the event page on Facebook.
