A local business has created more than 100 jobs after being awarded a notable contract.

Hurley Companies has announced that their Essence Bottling Company has been awarded an Advanced Contracting Initiative water contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Water Team.

Due to the contract, Hurley Companies has more than 100 immediate job openings in the Lubbock community.

The positions include warehouse management, transportation, loading and unloading, administrative, GPS tracking, logistics planning, and more.

Essence Bottling Company is part of a group of small businesses owned by the Hurley family of Lubbock.

Their contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers supports FEMA emergency response efforts to provide potable water to those impacted by manmade and natural disasters. The contract could exceed $100 million with a possible option to extend through March 31st, 2018.

The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, Workforce Solutions of the South Plains, and Texas Tech University’s Military & Veterans Programs are assisting in placing the new positions.
