Crime Prevention Coordinator Kat Anderson says we should all expect an increase in car break-ins during the holiday season. Car crimes? So much for the holiday spirit.

Unfortunately, it's true. According to the South Plains Auto Theft Task Force, this holiday season will bring about an increase in the amount of car thefts and burglaries.

Anderson told KAMC News that many people are preoccupied running errands and such during the Holiday season that their vehicles are prime targets. Not to mention the sheer amount of people out and about over this period, checking items off their Christmas lists.

With the increase in car burglaries and theft a near certainty, Anderson urges everyone to lock your cars, remain vigilant to your surroundings and never leave your vehicle unattended.
