HIlmar Moore, Longest-Serving Mayor in U.S. Dies at Age 92
The longest-serving mayor in the United States has died.
Hilmar Moore served as mayor of Richmond, Texas from 1949 until his death on Tuesday, December 4th, 2012.
Richmond is the seat of Fort Bend County, in the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area.
Moore died at the age of 92.
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples issued a release regarding Moore’s passing, saying “A true Texas gentleman with a strong work ethic and contagious sense of humor, Hilmar leaves behind a legacy of character, service, and integrity that will continue to define Texas for decades to come.”
