High Plains Water District Sets 2012 Tax Rate Lower than 2011
During their August 27th meeting, the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District Board approved a resolution adopting the 2012 tax rate. The rate of $0.00754 for every $100 will fund operation and maintenance in the water district.
Persons will $100,000 in property valuation would $7.54 per to the water district, down from the 2011 rate of $7.76. This is the third straight year for the water board to lower taxes.
Even though the tax rate was lowered, some residents may experience higher costs due to a rise in property valuations.
The board also approved applications for water well permits and and adopted the 2013 budget proposed earlier this summer.
Approval was also given for participation in a new Texas Water Development Board project to update northern and southern Ogallala Aquifer and Dockum Groundwater Availability.
