The Rangers have reversed their woes at home and have won seven of the last eight at Globe Life Park.

New relievers Jake Diekman and Sam Dyson have been serviceable. Spencer Patton has had a few good outings. Sam Freeman is dangerous -- dangerously good when on, and dangerously bad when not on. The bullpen is looking improved and it's only getting more reinforcements.

Look for Luke Jackson in this weekends series in Seattle. Since moving to the pen in AAA this year, he has 54 strikeouts in 37.2 innings with only 17 walks. That is a lot of swing and miss, which this bullpen is desperately needing.

In mid-August, Derek Holland will return and either bolster the bullpen or slide into the rotation for Nick Martinez, with Martinez moving to the bullpen. Either way, the bullpen gets stronger. Chi Chi Gonzalez threw seven innings of one-run ball and he's on his way back, too.

Unrelated to the bullpen, Joey Gallo hit three home runs last night in AAA. Leonys Martin added two more.

In the bigger picture for 2015, the MLB's best road team has now proven it can win at home (seven of 10 on recent homestand), and they now play the Rays, Twins, Orioles and the Blue Jays in August. All of which are very close to, or ahead of, the Rangers in the wildcard standings.

This gauntlet could either make for a much clearer picture for the Rangers in September, or just muddle everything up leading to a great finish in early October.

The AL West is not lost. Beltre is hot. Elvis is Hot. Odor and Choo are hot. This is a great time to rise toward a peak in September and a deep run into the playoffs. Maybe that is optimistic, but in the words of J.P. Knox: "It could happen."

As far is the immediate future, Cole Hamels (0-0, 5.87 ERA) squares off against Hisashi Iwakuma (2-2, 4.47 ERA). Hamels flopped his way to a painful no decision in his first start with the Rangers, while Iwakuma has been hot and looks to continue his winning ways.

Game two features Jekyll and Hyde starter Martin Perez (1-2, 6.64 ERA), who has had definite peaks and valleys this season while returning from Tommy John. His counterpart for Seattle will be Mike Montgomery (4-4, 3.07 ERA).

The third game of the series pits the two aces of the squad against each other. Old Faithful Colby Lewis (12-4, 4.68 ERA), who has Steve Dale's vote for the Cy Young, against actual Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez (13-6, 3.07 ERA).

Look for Texas to continue their winning ways, but for Nelson Cruz to hit at least one home run off of Colby Lewis in the process.
