Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. It's Halloween

Yup, tonight is Halloween so be sure to drive careful in your neighborhood because most likely kids will be running around to get candy. As a kid I was enjoyed Halloween and as an adult I enjoy it as well. It's just a fun time before all the stress of the holidays come. One of my favorite Halloweens came when I was in High School. Unlike many High School kids today, I didn't go trick-or-treating after Junior High. One year I decided to get all dressed up in a scary mask and costume and stand on my parents front porch and attempt to scare the kids when they rang the doorbell. Sure, it might have been a little mean, but it sure was fun. As an adult, I enjoy seeing all the costumes that the girls in the Depot District wear. You know what I mean. As a kid, it was all about candy. As an adult it's all about the eye candy.

2. U.S. planning troop build-up (link)

This should surprise no one.

The Obama administration plans to bolster the American military presence in the Persian Gulf after it withdraws the remaining troops from Iraq this year, according to officials and diplomats. That repositioning could include new combat forces in Kuwait able to respond to a collapse of security in Iraq or a military confrontation with Iran.

Anyone who thinks we will be out of the Middle East anytime soon is very wrong.

3. Romney, Cain still going strong (link)

Herman Cain is still leading in Iowa, but Mitt Romney isn't too far behind.

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain has taken the lead in the race to win the Iowa Caucuses, according to a Des Moines Register poll published Saturday.

Cain finished with 23 percent, narrowly beating former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney who finished with 22 percent. The two are essentially tied however, as Cain's one point lead falls within the poll's +/-4.9 percentage point margin of error.

People keep waiting to see if/when Cain will implode. Not sure that will happen anytime soon.
