A two vehicle crash on Saturday (Feb. 24) left one person dead in Hale County.

KAMC News reports, a Nissan was traveling northbound on I-27 when it crashed into a GMC vehicle. DPS said the Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed, causing the GMC to lose control, cross the median, and flip multiple times, landing in the barrow ditch of the southbound lanes.

Two occupants of the GMC were ejected. 35-year-old Elizabeth Faragoza, of Amarillo was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children in the vehicle were taken to University Medical Center in stable condition.

The driver of the Nissan, 27-year-old Samuel Perez Blount, of Amarillo, was stopped later on, by Plainview Police.

The crash is still under investigation.
