A Texas-based automotive retailer is expanding their presence ‘across the pond’. Group 1 Automotive, out of Houston, has acquired four Ford dealerships southwest of London in the United Kingdom. The dealerships will complement Group 1’s already existing 10 BMW/MINI dealerships in the U.K.

The dealerships will operate under the "think Ford" brand name and according to Group 1 are located in the towns of Farnborough, Guildford, Wokingham and Bracknell. Group 1's existing BMW/MINI dealerships are located in Farnborough and other adjacent cities south and southwest of London.

"We are delighted to add Ford to our brand offerings in England with this acquisition of four dealerships in a growing area outside of London," said Earl J. Hesterberg, Group 1's president and chief executive officer. "We are also very pleased to expand our relationship with Ford Motor Company internationally."

Group 1’s U.S. holdings include the Gene Messer dealerships in Lubbock and Amarillo, Advantage BMW dealerships in the Houston-area and Freedom Chevrolet in San Antonio.
