The Big 12 announced the Academic All-Big 12 First Team on Wednesday, February 24. Texas Tech has two representatives, as Toddrick Gotcher and Justin Gray both met all qualifications. Texas Tech was one of five teams with multiple players on the first team.

This is Gotcher's fourth straight All-Big 12 first team honor. With a master's degree in sports management already earned, Gotcher is set to earn his second master's degree in sports media in August 2016. With a 3.5 GPA, Gotcher was also Tech's initial Big 12 Champions for Life recipient last October.

Gray, who could have gone to Harvard, is a kinesiology major with a minor in biology. He's aspiring to be an orthopedic surgeon following graduation. This is his first selection to the Academic All-Big 12 team.
