Governor Greg Abbott Discusses Actions That May Be Taken Against ‘Sanctuary Cities’ in Texas [INTERVIEW]
Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Texas Governor Greg Abbott joined Chad to talk about local law enforcement of immigration law, plus his recent letter to Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez demanding she reverse her policy of refusing to enforce federal immigration laws.
In the letter, Governor Abbott said: "'Sanctuary City' policies like those promoted by your recent decision to implement your own case-by-case immigrant detention plan will no longer be tolerated in Texas."
Abbott talked about available options to force local authorities to abide by existing laws, why a special session of the Texas Legislature was not called and what can be done in the future.
Speaking about how to force local law enforcement authorities to follow federal laws and regulations regarding illegal immigration, Abbott said: "I think that the best way to do this as opposed to just requesting information from every city, is instead to just go ahead and pass a law outright saying, there are consequences if you promote 'sanctuary city' policies."
