The 2011 NBA Finals are underway, and everyone is getting in on the excitement, including our governor.

Yesterday, Governor Rick Perry placed a friendly wager against Florida Governor Rick Scott on who would win the series: The Dallas Mavericks or the Miami Heat.

“LeBron may have taken his talents to South Beach, but there’s no way he’ll be taking the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy there this season,” Gov. Perry said. “The Mavericks’ combination of teamwork and experience will overwhelm Miami’s raw star power, and at the end of the series, folks in Texas will be celebrating yet another NBA championship here in the Lone Star State.”

Gov. Perry wagered a case of Texas barbeque sauce while Gov. Scott put up a Florida Key Lime pie.

Last night, the Heat won the first game of the series, defeating the Mavericks 92-84.  Game 2 is Thursday in Miami.
