On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show Matt Mackowiak, GOP strategist and co-founder on MustReadTexas.com, talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on nationally and statewide.

Right now, the big topic on everyone's mind in sequestration. With just 4 days remaining before the mandatory budget cuts take effect, Mackoiwak says it's looking more and more likely that the sequestration will go through, even though he thinks the whole thing is a bunch of fear mongering from Washington.

The White House is using some fear mongering here, which I think is unfortunate because they're trying to get Republicans to agree to come to the table to try to cut a deal that raises revenue to replace the sequester. So it remains to be seen when the thing kicks on Friday, which I really think it will, do some of these things happen? And if they don't I think the White House is going to look ridiculous.

Mackowiak added that sequestration is not a good way to cut spending and is a "bad idea whose time has come." However, he said that unless it is automatic, there's no way the White House is going to cut back on its spending. Mackoiwak also talked about the possibility of Senator John Cornyn moving more and more to the right side on a number of issues.
