On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on statewide and nationally.

With all the discussion surrounding the National Security Administration's recently leaked PRISM program, both the Republican and Democrat parties are split on whether or not this sort of monitoring of private citizens is OK.

Mackowiak pointed out that, according to the data revealed so far, the program seems to just be looking at phone numbers and time of calls, not necessarily monitoring the content of local calls. However, he did add that they seem to be monitoring calls made abroad, and that the program is much broader than initially believed. He also had a few concerns about the "whistle blower" Edward Snowden.

"This program seems a lot broader than anything anybody knew about. And from my perspective, I'm a little concerned that a 29-year-old government contractor who failed out of high school...didn't make it through Army basic training, and is sort of an IT worker at the NSA in Hawaii was able to have access to all this top secret, highly classified information, which he has now leaked."

Mackowiak went on to add that the whole PRISM fiasco, along with the various other scandals that have come out in recent weeks, are serving to undercut people's trust in the Obama administration.

Mackowiak also discussed the latest with Senator Ted Cruz and the various speaking appearances he's made. However, Mackowiak believes that all of these engagements do not automatically equal a presidential run for Cruz in 2016. He said that it's just a part of the job for Cruz, and that he is in high demand right now.
