After the horrific bombing in Boston last week, terrorism and national security has been thrust back into the spotlight. Mackoiwak commented that this event serves as a grim reminder that terrorism can happen at any time, and that the country needs to be prepared and on their guard.

Although it got somewhat lost in the wake of last week’s major stories, things are looking a little shaky for Marco Rubio and the “gang of 8″ immigration plan. Mackowiak said that the events of last week certainly did not help the plan, and now both sides are politicizing the bombings in order to push their views on immigration.

“Folks on both sides are trying to use the Boston marathon as a reason to either delay going into immigration or a reason to do it. And with these two brothers, they immigrated into this country legally, one of them became a citizen. And so from that standpoint, you should wonder what was the process there. On the other hand, do we want to have eleven million people that we don’t know who they are in this country?”

Mackowiak added that the next few weeks will be very critical to the success or failure of the immigration plan.
