On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on nationally and statewide.

Senator Ted Cruz has been facing some negative press recently from The New York Times, the Washington Post and even some fellow Republicans such as John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Mackowiak says that most of the criticism stems from Cruz not acting like a freshman senator, who are traditionally "seen, not heard." But Mackowiak also predicts that all of this negative press will not discourage Cruz at all.

"In Senator Cruz, what you have is someone who is a very strong conservative, who is extremely intelligent and articulate, who has a wonderful personal story. And so, because of all that, he's a real threat to the liberal media establishment. And so, they're going to come after him with everything they have and you're starting to see that now."

Mackowiak also said that the traditional practice of freshman senators not speaking up is starting to change, and newer senators like Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and now Ted Cruz are starting to speak up.
