On the Monday edition of the Chad Hasty Show Matt Mackowiak, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com, talked with Chad Hasty about the latest national and state-wide issues.

Mackowiak said that Tuesday night's debate might be a bit of a challenge. He said that the town hall format of the debate will make it difficult for the candidates to engage each other directly, unlike the vice-presidential debate last week.

"I do think that this format makes it challenging for Obama to really engage Romney directly, particularly in any fashion that was similar to what Vice-President Biden did last week. He can get some shots in, but I think that the ability for the two of them to mix it up directly in sort of a rapid fire, back and forth, is difficult."

Mackowiak said that, if Obama really wants to win, he needs to redeem himself from his lackluster performance in the earlier debate. However, he warns that if Obama changes his demeanor too much, it could raise some questions in the minds of voters, so he is in a bit of a tricky spot. In Romney's case, Mackowiak said the campaign has done a great job of convincing people that Obama should not be elected for a second term, and that Romney is not the monster the Obama campaign has made him out to be.
