On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on statewide and nationally.

Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst made some headlines last week when he attempted to use his influence as lieutenant governor to get a family member out of jail. Mackoiwak said that right now, Dewhurst is in a fairly weak position, as shown by all of the challengers Dewhurst has in the upcoming Lieutenant Governor's race. He added that this phone call, in addition to being a case of bad judgment, is not really helping his case.

"This case in particular to me really looks like bad judgement, looks like someone who perhaps cares a lot for his family and wanted to help. But if you listen to the recording, he's really trying to use his influence I think a way that the average citizen probably couldn't or wouldn't. So I think this is just another sort of chink in the armor for Dewhurst..."

Mackowiak added that this lieutenant governor's race is looking to be a interesting one, pointing out that all 3 candidates have endorsed Dewhurst at one point or another, and now they are all turning against him.

Mackowiak also discussed Senator's Ted Cruz's comments that he would not be endorsing Senator John Cornyn in the upcoming election. He explained that Cruz has said he would not endorse for or against any of the incumbent Republican candidates, and that even without Cruz's endorsement, Cornyn is still going to be a strong candidate.
