On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show Matt Mackowiak, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com, talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on nationally and statewide.

"Ted Cruz-mania" is continuing to spread across the nation as the freshman senator continues to gain popularity and press wherever he goes. Mackowiak said he believes Cruz is so popular because Cruz is actively fighting for conservative values, and is starting to win.

What I think is impressive about Ted is that he's got courage. He's a great communicator, he's fighting for conservatism, and he's winning on things. And so I think when you combine all of those things, it makes him pretty unique to the Republican party today. And so I think all of the reason he was able to successfully come from nowhere and beat David Dewhurst in that primary last year and the same reasons people across the country are gravitating towards him."

Although Cruz himself has not given any indication that he is interested in running for president in 2016, Mackowiak speculated on a potential Hillary Clinton vs. Ted Cruz race. He said that while it's too early to start predicting about 2016, Cruz definitely seems to have the support and the publicity needed to make a good run for 2016, at least for now.
