Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. The weekend of debating (link) (link)

I'm not sure who is in charge of scheduling the GOP debates, but they should lose their job. The Republicans debated twice this past weekend and most likely, you had no idea. The first debate was held on Saturday night on ABC. It was held at the same time the New Orleans Saints faced the Detroit Lions in the first round of the NFL Playoffs. So, let me ask you. Who do you think won the ratings battle between the GOP Debate and Playoff Football? Exactly.

The second debate was held Sunday morning on NBC. Yes, Sunday morning... you know when people are getting ready to head to church.

Come on Republicans! Get your act together and hold these things on Thursday nights. People will tune in, at least more than what tuned in on Saturday or Sunday.

2. Speaking of Football (link)

Wow! Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos took down the Steelers. The Saints took down Detroit, and the Houston Texans defeated the Bengals. Oh yeah, and the Giants won. The biggest surprise of the weekend had to be Denver's win over the Steelers. No one gave Tim Tebow or the Broncos a chance going into Sunday's game. Proved a lot of people wrong. Let this sink in Cowboy fans (this includes me), Tim Tebow has just as many playoff wins as Tony Romo. One.

3. Dumb story of the morning (link)

Here is your dumb story of the morning.

A Gwinnett County family is baffled that their teenager was disciplined after he reported to his teacher that he accidently brought a small pocket knife to school.

"I hate that Jack felt like he did was he was supposed to do, and for him these are dire consequences," said Angie Persyn, the teen's mother.

Thirteen-year-old Jack Persyn was at Chess Club before the start of classes at Lanier Middle School in Gwinnett County when he discovered an inch-and-a-half long knife in a bag he brought to school. The military style bag was given to him as a Christmas gift from his aunt, who bought it at a yard sale.

The disciplinary report written by administrators at Lanier Middle states that the 8th grader "accidentally" brought the knife to school and that he "immediately self-reported" the weapon to his teacher.

Still, Jack was punished with four days of in-school suspension.

What a bunch of idiot administrators.
