Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson joined Chad in the KFYO studio to talk about his campaign for U.S. Representative, District 19.

Robertson and Hasty discussed the status of Robertson's campaign, as well as many major topics facing voters. When asked what he views as the most important issues facing the nation, Robertson listed national security, immigration, health care, national debt, and entitlement programs.

Robertson named agriculture, energy, and health care as the uppermost concerns facing West Texans on the district level. "We are in a true crisis mode in all three of those in West Texas right now", Robertson said.

Hasty also asked Robertson about his views on agricultural subsidies. Robertson replied, speaking specifically about agricultural and wind energy programs, "I think what we've got to do is come up with a 10-12 year plan to wean ourselves off those subsidies. And to do that, especially in the ag industry, we've got to solve the problems we've got with trade policy."

Robertson continued,

We've got to get our growers, our producers on a level playing field. We're competing against corrupt foreign governments that are subsidizing their growers, especially cotton growers, from anywhere from 90 cents/lb to $1.40/lb. Our growers are lucky if they can get cotton in the ag program right now for 58 1/2 cents.
