A scheduled educational speech for Occupy Lubbock has been canceled. According the Occupy Lubbock Facebook, the event featuring Mayoral Candidate Glen Robertson will not take place this afternoon as originally scheduled.

Yesterday evening, Robertson released a statement clarifying he would be speaking as a member of the Electric Utility Board and not as a Mayoral candidate to the group. Occupy Lubbock did not clarify why the event was canceled.

Below is the statement from Robertson released Friday evening. As of noon Saturday, Robertson had not made comments on the cancellation of the event.

“I am speaking to the Occupy Lubbock group. They were planning to picket LP&L and do not have good information. I will be speaking to them as an EUB (Electric Utility Board) member and not a Mayoral candidate. While I respect their right to protest, I feel that they are protesting the wrong entity because of misinformation.”
