Gingrich Picks Up Delegates in Georgia

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has picked up at least 23 delegates for winning the Georgia Republican presidential primary, getting an early boost in the race for Super Tuesday delegates.

Georgia has a total of 76 delegates at stake, and Gingrich is likely to pick even more as the votes are tallied. A total of 419 delegates were up for grabs in 10 states Tuesday.

In the overall race for delegates, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads with 203, including endorsements from members of the Republican National Committee who automatically attend the convention and can support any candidate they choose. Gingrich has 56 delegates, while former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has 92 and Texas Rep. Ron Paul has 25.

It takes 1 ,144 delegates to win the Republican nomination for president.
