Monday on Lubbock's First News, Wendy Grimes of the Garrison Center and Shannon Ramos of the Alzheimer's Association gave details on the fundraising event to benefit those with questions about or who have family members with Alzheimer's.

The event includes a free movie showing at the Knipling Center, at 21st and Louisville Ave at the Covenant Medical Center. It will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon on December 10. Local memory care personnel will be available to offer support and answer questions before, during, and after the movie. After the movie, a panel of speakers will offer information about Alzheimer's and how to manage it. The movie to be shown is Angel's Perch, showing the story of a young man that returns home to take care of his grandmother who is dealing with Alzheimer's.

Regarding Alhzeimer's as portrayed in the movie, Ramos said, "It's a situation that many, many people in this country and in Lubbock will be faced with."
