Funeral to Be Held for Former City Councilman David Nelson

Former Lubbock City Councilman David Nelson was killed Tuesday while riding a bicycle south of Wolfforth. He was struck from behind while on FM 41 and County Road 1240.

As friends, family, and the community mourn his loss, a funeral for Nelson is scheduled for Monday, June 23, at the First Christian Church, located at 2323 Broadway.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. and Lake Ridge Chapel will host a visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at their location at 6025 82^nd Street.

Nelson was listed on the November ballot as the Republican candidate for Lubbock County Court at Law #3. The Lubbock County Republican Party now has the responsibility of replacing Nelson with a new candidate for the November ballot.
