A state representative from Lubbock has been honored by a business group.

District 84 State Representative John Frullo has received the “Champion of Free Enterprise” award from the Texas Association of Business.

This accolade is the highest honor bestowed by the organization, and is given to legislators who “fought during the legislative session to promote a better business climate which will ensure that more good-paying jobs come to and stay in Texas,” according to a press release.

Legislators must earn a score of 90 percent or greater by the Texas Association of Business, based upon their voting record considered favorable to the state’s business environment.

Texas Association of Business President and CEO Bill Hammond said “By voting for the interests of Texas’ business, Representative Frullo also supported all of the taxpayers of Texas.”

Frullo commented on the award, saying “The State of Texas has a reputation for having a business-friendly environment, and I truly believe that in order to continue creating jobs, it is our responsibility as legislators to pass laws that give businesses the tools they need to prosper and reduce regulatory burdens that hinder their growth.”
