Friends of the NRA will be hosting a fundraiser tomorrow (July 24) evening at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture.

Farris Hightower joined Lubbock's First News this week to discuss the event.

Funds for the event are used for starting kids out early beginning with the Eddie Eagle Program. Eddie Eagle is a program that the Lubbock Police Department uses to help educate kids on what to do if you see a gun.

As the kids get older they'll learn how to safely handle and use firearms through programs like the Boy Scouts, 4H and FFA.

"It's really about being sure people know how to responsibly own a firearm," said Hightower.

The fundraiser will be Friday, July 24 at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture, located on East Broadway and Canyon Lakes Drive.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will include food, fun and games. Tickets are available at the door or may be purchased online at Friends of the NRA's website.
