Following in the recent footsteps of Lubbock ISD, Frenship ISD will hold a Tax Ratification Election during the upcoming November election.

Just like with Lubbock ISD's recent election, Frenship ISD is seeking voter approval to keep their overall property tax rate the same, but shift the allocation of the property tax revenue. Frenship ISD wants to move two cents of property tax revenue from Debt Service ($0.45 to $0.43) to Maintenance & Operations ($1.04 to $1.06), keeping the overall property tax rate at $1.49 per $100 valuation. Texas public school districts must seek voter approval to exceed a M&O property tax rate of $1.04 through a TRE. Also, by moving the two cents over to M&O, Frenship ISD states they will be able to access additional state funding.

If Frenship ISD voters approve the Tax Ratification Election, a total of $1.2 million in additional revenue will come into district. The break down is: $715,000 in locally generated property tax revenue and $485,00 in state property tax revenue.

According to an FAQ posted on the Frenship ISD website, the district states they would used the additional revenue in the following manner:

-Expansion of Full-Day Pre-Kindergarten program at all
elementary campuses
-Enhancements in Career and Technology programs
-Purchase of additional student technology devices
-Additional instructional resources for students
-Enhancement of learning management platform

Election Day will be Tuesday, November 7, 2017, with Early Voting being held from October 23-November 3, 2017. Voting locations will be at the Lubbock County Elections Office Vote Centers.
