The first arctic cold front of the season will be here tonight. Starting at Midnight, and continuing through 9a Tuesday morning, a Freeze Warning (pictured, navy blue) is in effect for all of the South Plains except Gaines, Dawson, Borden, Scurry, Garza and Kent counties.  Temps in the Freeze Warning area will drop into the 20s with wind chills into the teens.

Meanwhile, in the Texas Panhandle and Curry and Roosevelt counties in Eastern New Mexico, a Hard Freeze Warning (pictured, purple) is in effect from Midnight to 9a on Tuesday. Temps will drop into the 20s and exposed water pipes will most likely freeze.  The freezing temperatures are expected to continue Wednesday night and Thursday night in the Texas Panhandle.

Residents and businesses throughout the South Plains and Panhandle should take precautions to prevent freezing water pipes and protect outdoor plants.
