Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show, Frank Gutierrez, who is running for election to Lubbock City Council District 1 joined the show to talk about his candidacy, and what he views as important issues that should be priorities for the city.

Gutierrez and Hasty discussed many topics including economic development, Lubbock's purchase of The Omni Building for renovation, city debt, spending and taxes.

When asked by Hasty about his view on taxes in Lubbock, Gutierrez said,

I'm a fiscal conservative. I don't want any more taxes. We're already taxed for everything. We've got too much government, and we need to grow smaller. That's why I'm not a proponent of too much spending, simply because we don't have the money. We've got a debt that has to be worked on, and that's going to be one of the major functions of the next city council.
