Donna Corbin, president elect of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, joined Lubbock’s First News Tuesday, Sept. 22 to discuss the Teachers on the Rise program, which has been in Lubbock for four years.

Students and/or parents are encouraged to nominate a teacher who had a big impact in their lives.

Each month, an Elementary teacher, Middle School teacher and High School teacher are chosen as winners.

"Ninety nine percent of your teachers go above and beyond the call of duty, and teachers don't realize that," said Corbin. "We do what we do because we have a passion for what we do and we love what we do. We just like to honor some of those teachers to give them some of the rewards that they deserve."
