Four Lubbock-area high school students have been selected to attend a new Leadership program at Texas Tech.

University officials Monday announced the students chosen to attend the inaugural Camp L.E.A.D., which stands for Leadership Education and Development on July 7th through the 10th in Lubbock.

Camp L.E.A.D. will host more than 50 high school students entering their junior year from the Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio Areas, and is designed to teach leadership abilities and personal character.

One of the guest speakers for the program this year is Avery Johnson, former San Antonio Spurs star, Dallas Mavericks Coach and current New Jersey Nets coach.

The Lubbock-area students include:

  • Dee Grimes - Frenship High School
  • Sidnee Harrison - Monterey High School
  • Gary Jimenez - Lubbock High School
  • Saugat Parajulee - Lubbock Cooper High School
