A former Texas Tech baseball pitcher has been called up to the major league.

Right-handed pitcher Nathan Karns has been added to the Washington Nationals 25-man roster, and is scheduled to make his big-league debut on Tuesday, May 28th against the Baltimore Orioles.

The game will take place at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. at 6:05 p.m. central time.

Karns will become Tech’s 24th player to play in Major League Baseball, and its fifth Tech pitcher in the last four years.

According to a press release from Texas Tech Athletics, Tech will have had 16 players make their big-league debut since 2000, and 12 of them have been pitchers.

Karns was a 12th round draft pick by the Nationals in 2009, and pitched for Texas Tech in 2009 and 2009.
