Former Texas State Representative for District 83, Delwin Jones, has passed away at the age of 94.

Jones served as State Representative for District 83 from 1964-1972 as a Democrat and then again from 1989 to 2011 as a Republican. While in office he authored numerous pieces of legislation having to do with Texas Tech, Lubbock, and West Texas.

Jones was a graduate of Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University as well as an Air Force Veteran of World War II.

Current State Representative Dustin Burrows issued the following statement on the passing of Delwin Jones:

"Delwin Jones was a true West Texan. As a Legislator, his commitment to his constituents in his District was extraordinary. Delwin was a remarkable public servant and decorated war veteran who worked hard to make Texas a better place to live and work. Elisabeth and I offer our condolences and prayers to Delwin's family."
