Former Slaton Police Officer Will go to Trial in August For Child Pornography Charges

A former Slaton police officer will go to trial in August on child pornography charges.

50-year-old Richard Lee “Rick” Lewis was indicted in early June on six counts of possessing, receiving, and transporting sexually explicit images of children.

Lewis’ home was searched by investigators on May 11th, reportedly seizing 10 VHS tapes, 80 CDs and three computers. Lewis resigned from the Slaton Police the next day.

His trial is scheduled to begin August 15^th. Lewis has admitted to downloading and viewing the illicit images.
