Flu vaccinations provided by the state will be given out next week.

The Department of State Health Services will be offering the seasonal flu vaccinations on Tuesday, December 20th. A $20 donation is requested from adults receiving the vaccinations, but no one will be turned away for inability to pay. Medicare is accepted.

The shot takes around two weeks to work, and will last the duration of the flu season in Texas. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that all people over six months old receive the vaccination as early into the flu season as possible.

The vaccination clinic will be held Tuesday at the Department of State Health Services office, located at 6302 Iola Avenue from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. For more information, contact the local DSHS office at 806-783-6416.
