JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A black teenager carrying a BB gun was shot in the leg by a Florida officer responding to a 911 call about an armed prowler.

Tom Hackney of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says officers were dispatched twice late Friday to a Jacksonville townhome complex when a woman called 911 about a teen shooting a pellet gun at her windows.

After the second call, Officer Josh Livingood encountered the teen outside the woman's home.

Hackney says the teen, 14, initially obeyed orders to show his hands but then pulled out a gun concealed at his waist and pointed it at the officer.

Livingood fired six shots, striking the teen once in the leg.

Hackney says Livingood didn't initially see the BB gun's orange tip when the teen point it at him.
