The first major severe weather event of Spring took place during the night across the South Plains.

Quite a bit of rain fell between midnight and 2 AM as the bulk of the storm crossed Lubbock, Hale and Crosby counties. Hail fell in some areas.

Rainfall totals for across the area included 0.58 inches at the KFYO studios in southwest Lubbock, 0.7 inches in Idalou, 0.4 inches at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, 0.65 inches in Ralls, and 0.18 inches in Plainview.

A tornado watch was in effect for 11:25 PM until 5 AM this morning. KAMC-28 said a twister touched down at Guthrie, but there were no reports of damage. The tornado watch was issued by the National Weather Service for Lubbock County along with Floyd, Crosby, Briscoe, Garza, Hale, Hall, Hockley, Lynn, Motley, Swisher and Terry counties.
